Introduction

The Rehaunted walkthrough follows the shape the game actually uses: a sequence of investigation phases rather than numbered chapters. Cauchemar does not publish a chapter list, and the house does not label its rooms for you, so this route is organised around what you are doing and what has to happen before the story moves on. Each phase lists its objective and the thing that unlocks the next one. Read it as a checklist against your own run: if a phase's unlock condition has not happened yet, you have almost certainly left something unexamined in the area you were just in, and the walkthrough will tell you what to double back for.

Phase Overview

A

Arrival & Survey

Map the house before you interact with anything inside it.

DoWalk the ground floor and note where doors, containers and light sources sit so later findings have a place to belong.
WhyEvidence placements make spatial sense only once you know the layout, and a survey stops you re-sweeping rooms later.
S

Main Sweep

Where the majority of the physical evidence is waiting.

DoWork the living areas surface by surface with the UV light, camera and magnifier before advancing the story.
WhyThese rooms carry the bulk of your case file, and the story can close them permanently once a progress trigger fires. Clear both floors before you commit to the finale.
A

Secondary Areas

The rooms behind progress items that most players reach last.

DoClear storage and utility spaces as soon as they open, because they hold the findings that unlock the mid-game rather than optional colour.
WhyIt is tempting to save these for later, but the story does not wait, and an unsearched side room removes conclusions rather than just weakening them.
S

Final Reconstruction

The last sequence, and the moment your case file is read.

DoFinish every optional area and log outstanding findings before committing to one version of the night.
WhyConclusions you have not supported with evidence will not be available to you at this point, no matter what you do during the sequence itself.

Core Mechanics

Progress in Rehaunted is gated by findings, not by distance. The house is small and mostly open, so the sense of progress comes from evidence rather than from unlocking new geography. A phase ends when a specific object, recording or board connection has been registered, and the story then reframes what you already saw. That structure has two practical consequences. First, backtracking is normal and cheap, so there is no penalty for rechecking an area. Second, the radio check-ins act as phase boundaries in their own right, because the second detective's dialogue frequently introduces the next objective. When you are unsure what to do, the honest answer is usually that a conversation is waiting, not a door.

Advantages

Following a structured route keeps a short game from turning into a long one. Because Rehaunted runs two to three hours and the ending reads from your logged evidence, the most common way to lose time is not being stuck but being lost: sweeping the same surfaces twice, missing the object that was actually gating progress, and then arriving at the final reconstruction with gaps. A phase-by-phase walkthrough removes that overhead. It also makes a second run far more efficient, since you know which areas carry the evidence that supports each conclusion and can target them directly instead of re-searching the whole house.

Challenges

The obvious risk of any walkthrough is that it answers the question the game is asking. Rehaunted is built around contradictory evidence and around you deciding which reading is true; if you follow a route that tells you the answer before you have seen the contradiction yourself, the central idea stops working. The second risk is subtler. Because the phases here are organised by objective rather than by room name, a reader who skims can mistake the order of a phase for a strict sequence and assume they are blocked when they are early. Use the route to confirm what you have done, not to skip the part where you form your own opinion about the night.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many chapters does Rehaunted have?+
Cauchemar has not published a numbered chapter list, and the game does not present one while you play. In practice Rehaunted runs as a sequence of investigation phases: arrival and scene survey, the main room sweep, secondary areas, an evidence board review, the radio check-ins, and a final reconstruction. Treating those phases as your chapter structure is more useful than inventing numbers, because progress is gated by findings rather than by geography, and the game will move you on when the evidence triggers, not when you reach a door.
What should I do first in Rehaunted?+
Survey before you search. Walk the accessible areas, note where doors, containers and light sources are, and only then start interacting. The reason is structural: evidence is placed so that it makes sense relative to the house, and a finding you pick up before you understand the layout is easy to under-value. After the survey, set your settings, check the controls, and begin the main sweep methodically rather than following the first eye-catching object you see.
Can I get stuck in Rehaunted?+
You can stall, but true dead ends are rare. When progress stops, the blocker is almost always an unexamined object rather than a missing item: a surface that needed the UV light, a line of small text that needed the magnifier, or a recording sitting on something that did not look interactive. Check the room you are already in before you backtrack across the house, answer any radio prompt that is waiting, and review the evidence board for a contradiction you have not yet resolved.

Quick Tips

💡

Finish each area before you follow the story onward. Rehaunted advances on evidence triggers rather than on a checklist, so the moment a phase ends you can lose access to whatever you left unexamined, and the ending only reads conclusions your case file actually supports. Sweep, log, then move. Then advance without second thoughts.

💡

Backtrack without worrying. The house is small and internal, so rechecking a room costs a minute, while restarting a two to three hour run to recover one missed recording costs the whole evening. Nothing in the design punishes you for returning to an earlier area, so use that freedom. Rechecking is cheap; restarting is not.

💡

When you feel stuck, re-examine the room you are standing in rather than ranging across the house. The usual blocker is a surface that only reveals itself under the UV flashlight, a detail that needs the magnifier, or a radio prompt that is waiting for an answer, so cycle your tools before you move.
